Our Story
Williams & Parry Opticians began in 2010 when optometrists Gareth Williams and John Parry opened our first practice in Brynmawr. Built on a shared belief in honest, personal, community-focused eye care, the practice quickly became a trusted name in the local area.
As our patient community grew, so did we — and in 2018, we opened our second practice in Abertillery, allowing us to support even more families across the South Wales Valleys with the same dependable care.
Today, Williams & Parry remains proudly independent and family-run. We are delighted to welcome the next generation into the practice, with Nia Williams, Gareth’s daughter, now working as an optometrist at our Brynmawr location. Her presence continues our commitment to high-quality clinical care delivered with genuine family values.

Every member of our team holds further and enhanced qualifications beyond standard registration. That means you benefit from a higher level of care from the moment you walk through our door.
We offer advanced investigations such as OCT scanning at no extra charge, and our full independent prescribing service means many eye conditions can be diagnosed and treated right here — no hospital visit needed.
Some of our opticians also hold certificates in medical retina, allowing us to support patients with more complex conditions in practice. We're proud to be an Advanced Training Practice (ATP), helping to train the next generation of opticians in a real clinical setting.
